The Auburn University Emeriti Organizaton began meeting in 2024

Established in 2024

 The AUEO supports the role of Emeritus Faculty as leaders, mentors, and advocates in fostering a strong commitment to service among its members.
​The Emeriti faculty can provide a unique blend of experience, advocacy, and continued scholarly engagement that benefits Auburn University and its community.
AUEO thanks the Biggio Center, especially Asim Ali and Nikki Shubert, for their material, logistical, and advisory support in establishing the AUEO

 Advocacy Role

The advocacy role  of the AUEO includes:

• Academic Support: Advocate for the importance of higher education and support for Auburn in maintaining its standards, integrity, and quality.
• Departmental Recognition: Foster continued engagement of Emeriti in the academic life of home units through website listings, desk space, and overall inclusion in the life of the department
• Policy Influence: Engage in discussions and activities that influence educational policy, funding priorities, and legislation affecting education and research.
• Networking and Mentorship: Foster connections among retired faculty, providing mentorship and support to younger academics and promoting the exchange of knowledge and experience.
• Public Engagement: Actively participate in public discourse on critical issues, using their expertise to address societal challenges and promote informed decision-making.

• Research Advocacy: Advocate for funding and resources for research initiatives, emphasizing the importance of academic research in solving contemporary problems.
• Promoting Lifelong Learning: Encourage continuous education and intellectual engagement among both the public and retirees, promoting the idea that learning does not stop after formal education.

Overall, the AUEO is a voice for experienced and accomplishef faculty, leveraging their expertise to promote educational advancement and public understanding of academic work.
